Flat Rock Rotary Club Meeting

Flat Rock Community CenterYesterday was our weekly Rotary Club meeting. We’re a small but effective service and fellowship group.

One of the frequent discussions is how we encourage more of our local business leaders to attend and become members. This discussion obviously brought on the unfortunate observation that Flat Rock, like much of America, has its share of vacant commercial property and recently failed businesses. To our credit though, our members have remained strong–certainly a benefit from the networking opportunity the group provides.

Our group currently consist of Flat Rock physicians, bankers, insurance, funeral home, church leaders, and internet marketing firm. We do seem to lack good representation from our city leadership and large employers. It would be great to see these folks come by occasionally and share a great lunch with us.

In addition to talking about membership we started discussing our plans for the Annual Rotary Wine Tasting and Silent Auction scheduled for November. And Dr. David Patterson gave us some great insight into the current Healthcare reform initiatives, from a physicians view. Great information on a confusing piece of legislative initiative that is likely to impact us all in one way or another–whether in a good or bad way is yet to be clear.

We meet every Wednesday at noon for lunch in the Flat Rock Community Center. It would be wonderful to see you there.
